STUDIO
This 800 s.f. cabin responds to its context and client’s minimal living requirements. The main volume is wrapped by a porch that frames the entry view, encourages outdoor living and beckons to the sibling’s house. A service bar, integrating the bedroom, bathrooms and a loft, has been designed to resemble a boat, maximizing efficiency and minimizing space. Facing the road, the service bar with minimal windows, encourages privacy and orients the house towards the Hudson River. A large overhanging roof protects against the western sun. Again, windows and doors are strategically placed to optimize cross ventilation.
