ST HELENA
Located in St Helena in the Napa Valley, the design reinterprets the forms, features and materials of the traditional farmhouse; part of the late 19th and early 20th century historic context.
Challenges included the restricted building envelope, the proximity of neighbors and the desire to create a public domain for entertaining and a private realm for the Owners. A large courtyard, protected by a brise-soleil and retractable awning, bridges between the worlds. The long bar shaped plan with shed dormers maximizes setbacks from the streets and enhances cross ventilation.
Materials include: shiplap hardi-board siding, a galvalume wall and roofing system
